This work is about restoring balance within ourselves and the way we show up in the world.
Energy + somatic coach. Intuitive. Psychotherapist. Mother of one beautiful son. Partner. Sacred space holder. Yoga teacher. Sensitive soul. Cat lover. Wisdom seeker.
I discovered the term ‘highly sensitive person’ at a business retreat years ago where in describing who I loved working with as a counselor, someone reflected back ‘You mean a highly sensitive person?’ At the time I hadn’t heard the term put that way and so I dove into learning everything I could, sharing what I was learning with clients. I was struck by all of the internalized negative messaging most of us carry around regarding our sensitivity—regardless of gender. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been following Terry Real and his work on patriarchy and how it impacts our relationships. Not only does the patriarchy affect our relationships but it also affects how we feel about our sensitivity. Because of the patriarchal programing, not only do we tend to judge ourselves and others for qualities related to sensitivity, but we also cut ourselves off from the gifts that accompany our sensitivity—intuition, empathy, relationality, spiritual connection.
My story…
I’ve been aware of my sensitive nature since I was a child, feeling more connected to animals than I did to humans and feeling heartbroken around how we treat the earth and our fellow beings. As a child I had a lot of spark around changing the world and as I got indoctrinated into the ways of the world, this became less and less of a loud call. In college I was introduced and drawn to psychology, different cultures, and the metaphysical which reignited this spark bur from a different angle. I became more interested in our human evolution, consciousness, and connection with one another. As many sensitives are, I continue to be a life longer learner of all things related to self growth and deepening our understanding of our connection with each other, the earth, and spirit.
Influences and approaches…
In addition to Terry Real, other teachers that have and continue to influence my work include Lissa Friedman and Tammy Hendrix (deepening my understanding of the energetics of the enneagram as a path for expanding and embracing our essential nature), Tara Mohr (understanding the impact of our culture on embodying our feminine wisdom and power), Caroline Padgett (connecting with our inner wisdom and ancestors’ knowledge around ritual, magic, and divine energy), and Lee Harris (his work on connecting with our guides, our soul, our intuition and working with the subtle energy planes—embracing our multidimensionality). My mom, Cheri Torres, also continues to be an inspiring motivator both as a support and as a model for continued learning and growth regardless of age.
In our work together, we’ll draw on practices across disciplines and lineages to support you in feeling more empowered, centered, and graceful in the beautiful sensitive being that you are.
As far as my background, I have over a decade of practice as a therapist and have been studying embodiment traditions and practices for almost 20 years. I'm trained in yoga, coaching, enneagram, and a number of somatic and trauma-informed therapy approaches. I'm happy to share more if you're curious--just ask!

Psychotherapy vs. Coaching: Which is right for me?
Truthfully, there is some overlap but here are some general guidelines for figuring out which is right for you at this point in your life. I want to encourage you to let go of any judgments you might have as you read through these and give yourself permission to start where you’re at.
Psychotherapy is likely the best fit for you if:
You are seeking support in addressing symptoms that fit under a diagnosable mental health condition such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc.
You want to focus on healing past issues such as trauma, attachment wounds, etc.
You or your loved ones are concerned about your mental/emotional wellbeing and/or safety.
You were referred to therapy by another medical provider such as a primary care physician, psychiatrist, etc.
Counseling fits under the umbrella of the medical model, which means that it may be covered by insurance depending on your policy. In my therapy practice, I am an in network provider for BCBS, Aetna, and Medcost.
Coaching is likely the best fit for you if:
You do not meet diagnosable criteria for a mental health condition, though you may struggle with symptoms of anxiety or overwhelm at times.
You want to focus on creating more of what you want in your life such as improving your relationships, clarifying or creating a meaningful career, increasing your ability to connect to your inner knowing, etc.
You want to focus on changing your present and future experiences versus healing the past (that said, when we address our current challenges, we also heal the past AND vice versa).
You are interested in exploring non-conventional ways of addressing your circumstances including energy work, stone medicine, ritual, etc.
Coaching does not fit under the umbrella of the medical model, which means it is not covered by insurance. You can pay for sessions one at a time or pay for a package of sessions at a reduced fee.
If you’re still unsure which is the best fit, you can contact me and we can figure it out together.

When we are in conscious relationship with our energy, the possibilities we can create are limitless.
Foundational Principles of Coaching Approach:
-
Our system’s natural state is one of free flowing energy. We can get blocked by our own and others’ trauma, pain, and limiting beliefs. We’ll explore conditions that get in the way of our energy moving freely and easily and explore ways to navigate these blocks.
-
This means that in each moment there are unlimited possibilities for us to choose our reality. We have so many different roles, parts, and personality aspects and can access different aspects of these in any given moment. We determine our experience and reality.
-
We are open systems, continually interacting with the energy around us—people, the earth, animals, our environment. We both affect and are affected by whatever is around us constantly. Ultimately, we are not separate. Though we are also individuals.
-
We have both an ego, personality, human embodied form AND we have a spiritual dimension, soul, interconnectedness with all that is that transcends this human form and the material world.
-
We are in constant communication with our own energy and the energy around us. Our thoughts and others’ thoughts are energy, our words, our environment, material objects, feelings, past wounds/pain as well as future projects. We are affected and affect all of these because we are also energetic bodies that are indeed not separate from the energy around us nor the energy we create with our thoughts, feelings, perceptions.
